Leaders! Do not even think of setting 2014 goals until you do this!

Hi Everyone,

Why do so many goals go unfulfilled?  We mean well, but somehow they get lost in our multi-tasked to-do lists.

What does it take to persevere enough to actually acheive our goals?

You may already have your goals written, so if you have, back up and do this now to put a foundation under your goals.

If you have not done your goals yet, by all means, do this first, then write your goals.

Here is the secret I use with planning and goal-setting with clients:  Always go over your previous year's foundation of your achievements and celebrate those to give you enough positive momentum.  Without doing this you are just putting more pressure on yourself without also adding greater support and appreciation...this just does not work! Everyone needs to be appreciated and have their successes celebrated!

This appreciation and celebration and actually facing up to your achievements the previous year gives you the fuel you need in your mental/emotional gas tank to push your goals to fruition!  This in turn gives you more success and opportunities for growth!

So, make your list of achievements, celebrate and THEN set or revisit your goals!!

After Bin Laden, how do we strengthen our economy?

Hello!
Bin Laden is gone, sigh of relief! Part of the Power Shift I discuss in my latest book...But don't get comfortable! Remember his stated goal:
To bankrupt the U.S.A.!
We are again transferring huge wealth to the Middle East via high gas prices which funds terrorism! Just when we are barely recovering and vulnerable with our debt. No accident!

So I am challenging you: What are you doing to prevent economic harm to the U.S.!
It will take all of us!

What am I doing???
1. Working on funding for a company strengthening our energy independence.
2. Working on funding and consulting for entrepreneurs who can grow their companies and U.S. jobs with new technologies and products.

Why am I doing that instead of my usual corporate consulting?
Corporate earnings are primarily from other countries, emerging markets, meaning few U.S. jobs. It is good they are bringing revenue, but the entrepreneurial sector is really what will save us and grow our economy again. This is my passion!!

So...what are YOU doing to strengthen our economy??!!

It will take all of us, but WE CAN DO THIS!

Leadership--The Power Shift in Business and Government!

Hi,

The last few months have been a great study in leadership power, illustrating the ongoing Power Shift From Old Power to New Power facing every leader I explain in my book Author of From Old Power to New Power – Which Leaders Will $urvive?

In business, a recent study on CNN/Money stated that 84% of employees are looking for a new job and will leave when they can find one, up from 60% last year!! Staggering numbers, imagine the losses for leaders/organization when jobs return. Right now many are forced to do the work of 2 for the price of 1 (Old Power, fear they will lose their job if they don't do this),
and are not well led/managed and cannot grow in their careers.

This is a volcano waiting to explode. Only New Power positive collaborative leadership systems are sustainable in keeping the best talent and creating a climate for great innovative profitable ideas. This saves much time and money and creates better results, e. g. increasing revenue 35-40% in a few months in a technology firm, creating a great success in a merger frought with disaster potential -the much loved leader who did not get the CEO job had a heart attack when he was notified! This only took a few months.

The influence of the Tea Party in the November elections clearly shows a demand for greater participation and representation, more New Power leadership processes, based on the expectation of collaboration, the right to make input and be heard. The Obama administration was perceived as Old Power, interesting since his campaign rhetoric was New Power which got him elected. But the Old Power (authoritarian) approach he used in the Health Care Bill really
caused a large backlash, as Old Power usually does, and we see it now challenged in the courts.

Lesson: It is not just platform but leadership process which influences those governed, or in business, employees. Great New Power leadership requires both platform and process, not just platform. Both are crucial. Only the positive is a foundation for sustainable leadership. Negative Old Power leadership always crashes and burns. Don't let this happen to you or to your company! Let us lower your risk and increase your chances of success!

Seven Powerful Leadership Lessons From the BP Oil Spill

Predictions about BP Oil Spill:
Predicted the morning they deployed top kill it would fail. It did.
Predicted current cap strategy would have only modest success. True so far.
Intuition says the final solution will involved some sort of cascading strategy with different mechanical levels involved and that a French scientist working on it will have a crucial key.

Seven powerful leadership lessons call to us from the BP oil spill in the Gulf!
What can we learn from this tragedy?
1. The more risk you have and the more groups involved, the more you put systems
in place to inspect, check, re-check what is going onin great detail. This applies to any part of life, health, environment, business,relationships, spiritual life, workplace issues, and everything else.
This is no time to hang out in la la land. Get into the nitty gritty. BP registered in the Marshall Islands
and not the U.S., thus the last inspection was 2005. If registered in the U.S, would have more frequent inspections.
2. Working in very difficult circumstances, do not assume you
can easily fix what crises may erupt. Be prepared for a tough
long haul once a crisis erupts. Have a plan! Be clear on what success will look like.
(I have this in my Strengths- and Success-Based Positive Planning Manual for clients.)
3. Understand that everything is interconnected, all the companies,
employees, fisherpersons, tourists, government, leaders, etc., and
what you are doing when you work in a risky situation can and will
impact a huge array of stakeholders. Think about this in advance.
(I have helped many clients shift from crisis management to this planning ethos.)
4. Because of #2 and #3, do scenario planning IN ADVANCE for
what might happen and pre-test your solutions so you can mitigate
the negative consequences for all involved when the crisis comes.
5. Make sure the leaders involved can communicate consciously and with empathy,
not just facts. Make commitments in tough times with absolute congruence
between words and nonverbals. (I have worked with many leaders on this.)
6. Understand that however upsetting, as Americans you can bet that
we will make sure some good comes from this no matter what!
7. Spiritually, everything happens for a reason and there is always a higher
positive purpose, so stay tuned and look for it. Be careful not to
send more negative energy or judgment into the Gulf, but send
them positive thoughts of healing for people, economy, creatures, environment.
