Hello Positive Leaders,

What is Really Behind China's COVID strategy? What Do You Need to Know to Protect Your Company and Thrive?

As we deal with the COVID pandemic, fear, health and economic losses, all part of China’s plan, and violence in our cities,we are distracted from their larger plan. COVID is only one part. They are open about it, determined to overtake us and dominate us and world markets economically and politically. Not a secret. For their plan, see below, excerpts from my new Positive Crisis Leadership Manual in my What You Say Is What You Get® Positive Leadership Series.

E.g. If you search for who is funding the violence in U.S. cities, you will find Marxist/Communist money behind the organizations orchestrating violence, including Chinese communist associations, to divide us, destroy our economy and the rule of law, working their own agendas. Remember Communist dictatorships do not accept the rule of law. They wield power unilaterally.

I am embarrassed that as a University of Chicago Economist, expert in China, Russian, Japan, the U.S, comparative economic systems, communism, capitalism, socialism, I completely missed the threat of communism to the U.S. 

Although I accurately predicted years in advance the fall of communism in the USSR, after the Berlin wall fell, I completely ignored its threat, involved in my Positive Leadership work as a behavioral scientist, expert in how leaders use power.  

Only in 2016 when I saw the buses lined up in obviously violent Seattle orchestrated protests and researched who funded them, did I see it was communist money. Follow the money! Protesters were paid, with full medical benefits, and trained to protest, 

funded by an avowed communist.  I saw the job description on a website. Wake- up call!!!This has grown worse, with more intentionally orchestrated violence and polarization, often tainting important issues e. g. racism, poverty.

Please Note: I only speak from my professional expertise as and Economist, M.B.A., Ph.D. expert in leadership power and change, expert in spiritual principles in organizations/business, and wellness educator, with 30+ years of practical experience.

A few points about the economic war against the U.S. before the China strategy:

--I first saw the economic war against the U.S. on 9/11. Terrorists downed the trade towers, not our churches.

--Saddam Hussein crippled our airlines by threatening terrorist attacks-there were none-hundreds of billions of dollars in losses.

--Mass invasions on the southern border, 1000% more illegals than before, mostly military age men, funded by a radical leftist group, cost us billions in border and ongoing many types of post-border costs.

--Illegals in the former administration costs us $386 billion/yr. (data from Attorney/Assoc., Dean, a grad business school).

--Middle East terrorists manipulated previous Presidents (who allowed it) into spending $8 trillion!! in largely fruitless wars there.

--Russia manipulated the Clintons--who agreed--to transfer to Russia control of 20% of our uranium capacity, who are building nuclear weapons against us, for a large donation to their foundation...most say $130 million.

What is China really doing to us globally, beyond COVID? Did you know that China:

  1. Engineered for decades trade deficit with the U.S., including theft of our intellectual property and forced technology transfer, of nearly one Trillion dollars per year up to 2016 when President Trump was elected? 

  2. Now has the largest navy in the world and will double their nuclear warheads in the next 10 years, against us? 

  3. States they plan to overtake us economically by 2032? (South China Morning Post)

  4. Is buying oil from Russia, not using the U.S.dollar, and buying oil in South America?

  5. Is locking up Africa economically, about trade, with loans African countries can never repay, for their natural resources?

  6. Plans to take over the EU market, to shrink U.S. trading there,  with their one belt one road  from China to the EU, via Italy? (This is why  Italy was hit so hard by COVID, which then spread to the EU, not an accident.)

  7. Has crushed Hong Kong, squashing its more capitalist economic activities, and is now eyeing Taiwan, with whom we have much trade?

  8. Had over 90% of our U.S. medical supply chain? Thankfully President Trump is changing this. In an interview, a  Chinese woman owner of a company sending phony medications into Canada for U.S.customers, was proud of this!

  9. Demand for U.S. homes from foreign investors, especially Chinese, pushes up home prices, worsening housing affordability according to Wharton research. House prices grew 8% more in U.S. zip codes with high foreign-born Chinese populations from 2012 to 2018. Chinese buyers have led foreign investments in U.S. homes for the past 7 years. In 2019-2020, they bought U.S. home properties worth $11.5 billion, or a little more than a sixth of the total.(Knowledge@Wharton, 9/1/20)

  10. Hacks our companies and government, spies and steals intellectual property? Over 50 Chinese NIH scientists  and Chinese students from at least two Universities, including the University of Virginia, have been caught stealing U.S. intellectual property. With 600,000 Chinese in the U.S. 360,000 of whom are students, imagine how many more there are. This was painful for me, as I consulted at NIH for four years and spent many happy hours at U.VA. in Charlottesville, while teaching at the Federal Executive Institute, studying the spiritual foundations of our country.

  11. Pressures its citizens in the U.S. to spy and steal, as their families in China get a lower “social credit” score, needed for health care access and other resources, if they refuse? Will your intellectual property be stolen?

  12. Sells us products laden with toxic chemicals? One article of clothing had 900 times the formaldehyde permitted in the U.S. I had to return a pair of jeans made in China, as they reeked of chemicals. The company said they had many complaints.

We don’t hear these in the mainstream media, making complacency easier, but far more dangerous, as most Americans are uninformed, not seeing these dangers. Think COVID is bad? Yes the loss of life, peace, and the presence of economic disaster, right after the lowest unemployment rates ever for women and minorities (thanks to the Trump administration), are horrific, and intentional by China. And..the above Dangerous Dozen are just as dangerous economically, but often less visible.

As an Economist I see these as only a few obvious threats...many more we are not told about increase that  threat further. Always remember that Communist China is a brutal dictatorship oppressing its people and suppressing religion. There is no freedom of speech, assembly or religion. Marxist Communism is atheist. Only government has power, no one else.

Thankfully, Economist Dr. Peter Navarro, head of trade for President Trump, has known of China’s plan to take us down economically for years and published much about it. He is helping the Administration stand up for us with China, not easy! I have followed his work for 15 years...he knows the dangers. I wish I had gone into his work in more detail sooner.

What Is the One Big Question We Should All Be Asking Now?

Why have all former Presidents, in BOTH parties, allowed China to take huge economic advantage of us, cheating us, weakening our economy, for decades?  Why is President Trump the first one working to stop their abuses and protect us economically?  Like you, I wasn't paying attention, caught up in U.S. domestic issues and my own life. But no more!

What Can Leaders Do to Protect Their Companies and Counteract These Threats? Take These Steps!

  1. Lean into your positive spiritual faith, and with your team(s), stand on, appreciate, and unleash your teams' strengths for creative solutions in products, services and markets. (This is the core of my consulting work...we can help.)

  2. Many are moving their supply chains out of China to other countries. I bought a laptop battery from Korea instead of China...worth a few more dollars.

  3. Be very careful about toxic products from China, at work and at home. Many do not realize the health risks of out-gassing from toxic chemicals in desks, chairs, and more. I always look at the label first, or search or country of origin.

  4. Do careful vetting of all employees, associates, partners, and others from China with whom your company works. I know of a service vetting people with 99.9% accuracy for their intentions to do harm. This service is proven and accepted in courts.

  5. Tighten up your security and cybersecurity procedures to protect your intellectual property. We know that China’s hacking is very dangerous and costly. Beware of any technology from China, it may contain hacking or stealing capacity. Test it. Pres. Trump is right about TikToc and other Chinese companies that make us vulnerable to economic harm and loss of privacy.

  6. Educate your employees, investors, partners, and others about these risks, while focusing on your goals and strengths.

  7. Vote for those who will stand up to China and protect us, not be doing pay for play deals, like the Bidens, who will, frighteningly, not protect us.  The press MISSES THIS KEY...China would NEVER give Hunter Biden a $1.5 billion dollar deal or Ukraine give him millions of $ in a company where he had no expertise WITHOUT ACCESS TO POLITICAL INFLUENCE. Buying influence, as we consider corrupt, is normal for China, Ukraine, and Russia...it fits their behavioral profile for how, as Communist +/or authoritarian leaders, they assume they can wield power. With their values, it is business as usual.  Media don't cover this, and focus only on the Bidens' behavior.  Bidens' deals were illicit, and they could not happen without the countries on the other end of those deals, who are our enemies. My vote goes to those who will stand up to China and protect us, so our economy can thrive and grow, beyond the pandemic recovery. Most Americans are naive about leadership power in differing economic systems, so are caught up in the back and forth about the Bidens.

  8. Vote for lower taxes, not higher taxes, to speed economic recovery.  Biden's plan to greatly increase income, capital gains, and payroll taxes for those over $400K in income, the JOB CREATORS, will cause them to lay off more and hire fewer employees, harming small businesses and causing massive job losses, especially for lower income earners and women, both hit hardest by COVID. His pitch sounds good politically to those without knowledge of economics, but is economically disastrous, typical for the radical leftists behind him, who will, due to his early dementia (sadly), push him aside and skew their actions to more economically damaging socialist policies. Given the economic war against us from without, we cannot risk being economically weakened within.  Our first national security line of defense is our economy!

  9. Watch what happens over the next several years with China and how they treat us economically...keep your eyes open, and remember, we are Americans, we can innovate, learn, grow strategies to protect ourselves, working together, using our great innovative talents. We can re-grow our economy, with strong economic leadership for private sector and small business growth. Hopefully the U.S. and the world will hold China accountable for the horrendous costs of the pandemic.

  10. Reminder from last month: If you know anyone anxious or depressed, ask them, "Do you really want to let China take you down? This is not your fault.  China did this to us. Do something positive today to strengthen yourself and your life" . I find this helps people greatly, as they are internalizing COVID as their fault. Again, see greenmedinfo.com for health info.

  11. Remember the CDC says only 6% of COVID deaths are due to COVID, 94% are from an average of 2.6 co-morbidities! (8/26) Pres. Trump tweeted this and Twitter took it down! The media are still wielding the 100% number, false data! Take precautions but do not buy into and live in exaggerated fear. Stay safe and well, protect the vulnerable and live your life!

The Power of Language in Crisis Leadership--How Effectively Do You Use It? July 2020

In my What You Say Is What You Get® Positive Crisis $ystem Leadership manual now on the
boards, I explain why successful crisis leadership requires the masterful, careful and precise 
use of language. In crisis, everyone looks to you for guidance. Your words can make or break 
effective fast solutions, creativity, and the spirit and behavior of all involved.

The most crucial language ability in leading crisis is the powerful use of positive language 
to balance compelling crisis negatives, while not denying the difficulties. This includes 
intentionally creating a positive context for crisis resolution, the only approach that maximizes
 your chance of successful outcomes. 

The traditional approach to crises is to focus first/foremost/only on the worst in the situation, 
a great temptation, but this makes everything worse, creating more fear, despair, upset, 
discouragement, less co-operation, slower weaker results, and a much lower chance of successful resolution. 

Positive leaders know that positive language creates less fear and discouragement, 
more hope, inspiration, creativity, commitment, co-operation and teamwork, better faster
more creative results and a much higher chance of successful outcomes. This becomes more important with the growing list of unknowns in the COVID crisis.

We cannot always control our thoughts, but we can control our words, 
and repetition impresses the subconscious, and we are then master of the situation.”

--How aware are you of your use of language in leading crises?
--How skillfully do you tailor your language to the culture(s) of those involved?
--How aware are you of what percentage of your statements and data are positive? Negative? 
--How high are your Positive Quotient®, or your PQ and your Appreciative Quotient®, 
or AQ?
--What impact does your language have on those in crisis with you?

A Few Powerful Examples from COVID-19 Leadership, Positive and Negative

Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care for people will hear them 
and be influenced by them for good or ill. Buddha
Positive:
1. President Trump and Task Force members frequently mentioning the top priority of 
protecting life and health, with decisions based on medical data, even though with
a high economic cost.
2. President Trump and Task Force members stating that we have the greatest medical 
system in the world and can create solutions (therapeutics and vaccines) for the virus. 
3. President Trump frequently mentioning our past economic success as a nation, saying 
we can do that again, stating a positive vision for economic recovery. 
4. President Trump and Dr. Birx repeatedly appreciating the American people for 
following their health and safety guidelines.
5. President Trump appreciating states which had reserves of needed medical equipment, 
masks, etc.
6. President Trump appreciating corporations who quickly pivoted to produce needed 
medical equipment.
Negative:
1. The term social distancing, a negative exaggeration of physical distancing. 
(Thanks to the Dean of the Boston University School of Public Health. We should say 
physical distancing instead of social distancing, more accurate and supportive.) Social 
distancing implies more emotional distance in relationships, the last thing we need now!
2. The term quarantine, which only means isolating those who are ill. instead of
 “shelter in place” or “sequester”, which is less negative and more accurate for most of us 
who do not have the virus. Quarantine creates an underlying fear of greater risk of illness 
than is accurate.
3. A reporter, in a negative tone, when one person in the White House tested positive for the 
virus, asked President Trump if “the whole system was breaking down”! I was shocked at first,
then I saw he had a political agenda, so  over-exaggerated the negative. President 
Trump calmly said of course not, the system was not broken, there are hundreds of 
people in  the White House daily. This reporter spread more fear and uncertainty to 
everyone listening (was that his intention?) in addition to his  negative agenda 
in how he asked the question. He broke my Dr. Linne’s Rules of the Road for questions.

4. President Trump, saying another reporter’s question was asked in a “nasty” way.  Although 
true, his correction, saying the reporter should have started with the positive achievements, 
not just focused on the one smaller negative, followed my Dr. Linne’s Rules, 
yet should not have included the word “nasty”. That said, given the constant attacks on him, 
many orchestrated, I don’t know how he keeps his cool as well as he does....I don’t know 
one person who could even come close. 

Language exerts hidden power, like a moon on the tides.

Hello Leaders,

Crisis and loss all around us due to the COVID-19 virus and many negative media 
messages, spread fear along with information. Physical distancing, loss of regular
work relationships and social connections. 

(Thanks to the Dean of the Boston University School of Public Health for saying 
physical distancing instead of social distancing, more accurate and supportive.)

--Having to lay off employees, guilty and upset about losing them and revenue, 
missing working with them, grief and loss, working at home.
--Having to re-hire them for Payment Protection Program funds.
--Having to plow through the just-forming government support programs.
--Worry about your company, large or small, can you stay afloat?

I have never seen a greater temptation to sail into negative leadership waters.
But here’s the thing....if you model negative leadership, you will make things 
worse for employees and your firm, now and for the future.

Still Traumatized After All These Years--True Client Story

A client CFO in a large East Coast organization had me interview his major internal 
customers about their IT needs. I reported back after my interviews and his 
IT group developed a better system using customers’ needs.  

Roll-out was going great except for one important technology group, 
not in my interview set, who gave no co-operation despite requests 
rom my client’s IT team. Puzzled, he asked me to find out why. 
When I talked with the non-responsive group, I found them wounded, 
traumatized and angry.

Why? Eight years before, their boss had  betrayed them, and they had never healed! 
They were still stuck after 8 years, and could not work with my client! No one had 
helped them.  When I told my client, he was amazed.

When I asked him if he would approve and pay for my helping them heal, 
as that is an area of my expertise, he immediately said, yes, please go!
Only after meeting with them in a professional organizational healing process 
could they move forward and accept my client’s new system.  Complaining to 
each other for 8 years just made things worse, as venting usually does 
without professional skills to help clients resolve trauma.

Don’t allow this to happen to your company!

How Can You Lead Through Crisis and Trauma to Turnaround?

This may seem overwhelming, but skills make this possible!

Three Keys:

1. Acknowledge the negative realities but don’t live there, just visit...
let your teams know you care and it is hard for you to lay them off, 
lose revenue and have uncertainty about the future. Do your planning 
as much as you can, knowing it will shift, to have something to tell them.

2. Do not let the negative emotions and circumstances take center stage.
Be sure to state something positive, your commitment, your plans, 
re-assurance about the future, that this is temporary, we will get through it,

Even more important now: Manage your and your company’s psychology 
to stay positive. Positive leaders know they must manage their own psychology
and the psychology of their employees to survive and keep the ship steady. 

Fear destroys revenue. Confidence builds it. Keep the vision alive that your 
firm will succeed, this is just temporary and it will pass.  Don’t let the crisis 
be bigger than your vision, make the vision bigger than the crisis! 
3. Provide positive leadership communication for yourself and your teams.
3A. For yourself:
Remind yourself of your strengths and successes, your company’s mission.
Crises do not take those away from you. Stand on those to respect your strength 
and confidence.  Meditate, pray, breathe, stay calm, stand on affirmations, 
scripture, values, positive quotes that steady you, talk to those with a positive 
perspective to keep your emotional balance. Avoid fear-mongers 
as much as possible. Others are looking to you for guidance. Inner discipline is key.

3B For your employees:

If you had to lay people off, or re-hire them, appreciate them  in their teams 
for their contribution and strengths. 

Work with your executive team and employees reminding them of their strengths and 
successes and the importance of your business and their contribution
Look for new opportunities in the crisis.

As an Economist, I see great things are possible with great leadership. When the COVID-19 virus happened, our economy was super strong with
the lowest unemployment in half a century, and for minorities, 
the lowest ever. More jobs will be created in the U.S. as we withdraw 
some from China. Our economy will re-bound with huge pent-up demand.
