What You Say Is What You Get(R) - Have You Appreciated Them In Time?

Dear Clients, Colleagues and Friends,

I know it has been awhile. Finishing 2 new books at once captured my time. Now they are going to print. What books captured me so completely? See details at the end of this post.

Meanwhile, my sad personal news is a wake –up call for all of you! Heed these powerful lessons from my friend's passing! This post could save your life!

A dear business friend died of a sudden heart attack. A huge and sad loss. He was always positive and encouraging and I will miss him!

Powerful lessons for all of you from his passing:

1. I am so glad I appreciated him while I could. There is nothing I wished I had said and did not. In my grief, shock and loss, I am grateful for that, and grateful I had the skills to let him know often how much I appreciated who he was, what he did, and his support.

Another friend I spoke with shared his anguish when a friend of his died and he had not spoken his words of appreciation. Years later, it still hurt him! He said how important it was to know that I had said my apprecations and how important a lesson it was for everyone, and wanted to make sure I share it with everyone. How about you? Do you keep current with your appreciation?

2. Be sure you appreciate people in your life while you can. Learn the skills to give great appreciation so you can express what you really mean. Don’t leave it unspoken and be sorry later!

4. When his doctor told him weeks ago that he needed a procedure after a stress test, he refused. I did not know about it or would have pushed him to get treatment. All of you men reading this, and type A women, go get your heart checked, have a stress test and listen to your doctor! My friend had a wife, family, friends, and little granddaughter who needed him. He was on the brink of doing the biggest work of his life! And he was only 60! Learn from his mistake!

5. What do you need to say and do right now in your life to be fulfilled? Do it, don’t wait. Life is precious, and your time is your life.

Holiday– Thanksgiving William James said, “The deepest craving in human nature is to be appreciated.”

My Thanksgiving ritual since the middle 1970s has always been to go around the table and give thanks for what you appreciate in your life.

This year, appreciate your friends and family as individuals for what they bring to your life also. Don’t wait and be sorry later. What You Say Is What You Say(R)

Reflections and the Holidays - Gifts to Bring Appreciation into Your LIfe

Losing my very positive friend makes me even more grateful to be an appreciation expert and strengths-based leadership consultant and bring appreciation-based tools and systems to friends and clients. It also makes me very sad to lose one of my most appreciative friends. They are a special and rare treasure.

How well do you appreciate those at work and at home? How positive and skilled are you as an appreciator? Make sure you appreciate those at work and at home, before it is too late! My friend enjoyed and believed in my work on appreciation. One of his last newsletters was on the power of appreciation.
